From our Territorial Commander...

Dear Volunteers,
On this International Volunteer Day 2008 I am glad of the opportunity to express to you the sincere thanks of everyone in The Salvation Army for the valuable service you give to us and our clients and residents.

You are part of a great ‘army behind the Army’ and your service helps us to be more effective and efficient in our work amongst needy people. It is our aim to make a difference for good in people’s lives and we want you to know that your contribution by voluntary service plays a significant part in achieving this goal.

I trust that you find pleasure and satisfaction in your service with us. We look forward to your continuing partnership with us as together we put ‘service above self’.

Thank you and God bless you.

Yours sincerely,

David Bringans
Commissioner
Territorial Commander

This is but a snapshot of how our volunteers have been so wonderful in giving of themselves to those in our Salvation Army Homes and Centres. Giving their time, skills, experience and love are beyond amonetary value because they are ‘heart gifts’.

As we celebrate International Volunteer Day on 5 December, we would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to all volunteers. The Salvation Army salutes you for always being available and willing to assist in many ways. Your unselfish service has helped the Army provide a broader range of services to our beneficiaries.

Every role played by a volunteer makes an undeniable contribution to a colourful tapestry of love and care; each volunteer being uniquely different but yet beautifully bound together in loving service. Thank you once again and Happy International Volunteer Day!
